Cape Fear River Crossing Westside Push

Paul Howard Co. has completed the Cape Fear River Crossing in Navassa, N.C. outside Wilmington, N.C. The underground crossing was used for transporting raw water to the City's Water Treatment Plant. The project involved directional drilling a 36" or greater diameter bore approximately 2,400 LF underneath the Cape Fear River. Fused HDPE pipe was pulled thru the bore and then tied into the existing line on both sides. Mears performed the Directional Drill, Atlantic Marine and Diving drove the sheet pile cofferdam, ISCO fused the HDPE, and Snow Marine provided river transportation. Richard T. Howard Jr. was the Project Manager, Bill Privette was Assistant Project Manager, Tommy Johnson was Project Superintendent, and James Hall fused and tied in the westside operations.
